Examining Our Nation's Story

Examining Our Nation’s Story

I thank Warren Jones for sharing this documentation of principled historical scholarship.  The interview with Craig Steven Wilder encourages critical reflection on enslavement, education, and Christianity in American colonial history.  In addition, Wilder’s work invites a troubling but very necessary question:  are some aspects of 21st century American culture disguised continuations of habits of thought and action forged in the 17th and 18th centuries?  Despite the ample evidence of progressive change in our nation, we are still obligated to ask how much of such change is a smokescreen for deep currents that continue to flow.
